Chinnor celebrating Queen Elizabeth 11 Platinum Jubilee 2 - 4th June 2022

Chinnor Parish Council put together an amazing number of events to celebrate the occasion.  From the lighting of the Chinnor beacon, based in the playing field on Station Road, through to climax on Saturday 4th June and a party in the field for all residents and visitors to enjoy.

There was musical entertainment throughout the afternoon  Punch and Judy, lots of stalls and stands including the Chinnor and District branch of The Royal British Legion. Food and ice cream, drinks and a fun dog show.

Queen Elizabeth 11 Silver Jubilee 1952 - 1977

Chinnor celebrated the Silver Jubilee in June 1977 with a number of events beginning with a Jubilee concert given by children of St. Andrew's and Mill Lane Schools held at Chinnor Village Hall.

Friday 3rd June1977 was Children's day with sports on the St Andrew's Playing field, Judging of cakes and table decorations. School Children's party in the High Street.  Under school age picnic held in St Andrew's Playing field.  Followed by children's entertainment.  Finally for the 11 - 15 year olds a disco was held dancing to John Folley's disco at Mill Lane School.

Sunday 5th June and an Inter-denominational Service was held in the car park at St Andrew's school.

Monday 6th June and the village was alight with Morris dancing, carnival parade, a jubilee fayre and barbecue held at Chinnor Village Hall.

Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June saw both amateur dramatic societies putting on shows at Chinnor Village Hall. With Merrie England by Edward German from Chinnor Operatic Society.

Mini Chinnor Players produced Family Improvisations by Gladys Lucas. Chinnor Youth Theatre produced by Tom Whitworth William Shakespeare's "A play within a play". These items were followed by The Chinnor Players Festival Play "The gentle rain" by Anthony Booth

Chinnor as a community always comes together for celebrations / commemorations.  Our very own Queen Elizabeth 11 will celebrate her platinum jubilee in June 2022 and once again we will be celebration in style
